As a second-year degree student with no prior experience working in a big, reputable company like Star Media Group Berhad; walking into the building on my first day, I was more nervous than excited. I quickly learnt that I had nothing to be worried about because everyone was very welcoming and always willing to lend a helping hand.
Throughout my 3 months of being attached in the Digital Services unit, I was given tasks that required me applying things I’ve learnt in university and also tasks that taught me stuff I would’ve never picked up in the classroom. I got the opportunity to sit in on meetings for website revamps with stakeholders and gained plenty of insight on how the industry operates. I also learnt how to properly manage my time in between deadlines.
Besides that, I’ve also gained a lot more confidence, enhanced my communication skills and also gained a fair amount of knowledge and skills beyond my major which would allow me to further navigate my future career path.
Interning at Star Media Group Berhad has overall been a great learning experience and I am immensely grateful for the opportunity.
