Intern’s Testimonial

I am Raja Azlan and I am currently working as a HR & Admin Officer in a leading construction company. In June 2012 while I was still studying at Universiti Teknologi Mara (BA in Human Resource Management), I applied for an internship at the Star Media Group Human Resource Department and was accepted.

This internship has allowed me to hone my skills, especially those in my field of study, practice to communicate with other employees and perform task with experienced staff. The internship has also given me the courage to start something from scratch. Back then in 2012, it was the memorable moment for me. I was able to join the Human Resource recruitment team to promote the Group at various colleges and universities and to recruit new staff to join us.

In Star Media Group Berhad, you never feel like you are just an intern. You feel like everyone really wants to get to know you, work with you and get your opinion on things. I just showed up my first day being super nervous but they made it easy for me and I love the friendly environment.

Now to be honest, I miss all of them.

Star Media Group is one of the most prestigious organizations in the country. An internship with Star Media Group is a brilliant source of knowledge. It can provide career-building experience and be a stepping-stone to your dream job. Internship is a crucial part of very internship student’s life to get to know about the working life, culture and environment at a particular organization. As Brian Herbet states that “the capacity to lean is a gift, the ability to learn is a skill and the willingness to learn is a choice”.

My internship at Star Media Group organization has definitely given me a better understanding of my skill set and where my career may take me, but most importantly, I’ve come to learn that I am not alone. This job has taught me that almost everybody is in my same position. Very few college students know what they want to do, and it is something that is simply not worth worrying about. I was also able develop my communication skill and work easier with the other staffs. I was attached to the recruitment section, compensation & benefit section, training section, and industrial relation section at the Human Resource Department. I have learned and gained knowledge from each sections this has helped me to gain deeper understanding about Human Resource Management.

I learnt a lot from interning at Star Media Group Human Resource Department. All the knowledge and skill that I learned from here can be put to use in the real working world and will prepare me for the upcoming challenges that I would be facing. To become successful, we need to work hard, work smart, never fear to make mistakes and learn from it to come back stronger and never give up in any situations.
