#AnakAnakMalaysia campaign kicks off
SETIA ALAM: In celebration of the upcoming National and Malaysia Day celebrations, Malaysia’s leading English daily Star Media Group together with property developer Eco World Development Group Berhad (EcoWorld) have launched the third annual #AnakAnakMalaysia campaign.
Taking place on August 27, the #AnakAnakMalaysia Walk 2017 is a simple but powerful act, continuing the hope of imbuing a sense of patriotism and fostering social impact as people of different races, creed, and background gather to celebrate the nation’s milestone.
Star Media Group chairman Datuk Fu Ah Kiow said that #AnakAnakMalaysia walk celebrates Malaysia’s multicultural and multireligious people.
“Diversity is a strength and asset to Malaysians.
We should not amplify our differences. I believe that we will bring our nation forward to much greater heights if we embrace our strengths,” said Fu.
Fu said that our different cultures will help to build our nation to a united and progressive nation.
“We should preserve these values as well as strengthen unity, harmony and tolerance,” he said.
The organising chairman of #AnakAnakMalaysia Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye said the walk is an occasion for Malaysians to rekindle their patriotic spirit.
“Patriotism is a vital ingredient for nation building. Patriotism is a steady commitment of a lifetime to the nation we all belong, the feeling of pride for one’s country,” he said.
Lee said that the seeds of love for our country should not only germinate in the month of August.
“Keep love strong in our heart and soul and take pride in our Malaysia,” said Lee.
Lee said that a million wristbands will be distributed across the country and that he will be going down to schools on the ground to instil the importance of unity and respect to the young generation.
Wristbands were designed by local cartoonist Reggie Lee and will be available beginning August 27.
The walk will be graced by Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and thousands of participants are expected to take part in the 6.30am walk at Dataran Kemerdekaan Shah Alam.
The campaign is supported by the #AnakAnakMalaysia influencers who are honoured and prominent figures and members of society from all walks of life who have strong influence in the Malaysian community.
