Boost for projects to uplift society
PETALING JAYA: Labuan-based Hans Advisory & Trust Co Ltd has donated another RM100,000 to the Star Foundation for various community-driven projects, following its maiden donation of the same amount to the Star Media Group’s charitable foundation last year.
Hans Advisory director Mohamad Akbal Mohd Yunos said the contribution would be put to good use to help those in need.
“Star Foundation has the capability and expertise to identify communities or individuals who require assistance.
“We are in a business-related industry, so we focus on business, but Star Media Group (SMG) has a dedicated arm that is focused on providing aid that we trust will be well utilised on our behalf,” said Mohamad Akbal following a symbolic cheque handing-over ceremony with SMG chairman Tan Sri Chor Chee Heung at Menara Star here yesterday.
Also present were Hans Advisory general manager Tiew Hock Chuan and consultant Nurazlina Azizan.
Hans Advisory’s contribution last year went towards funding surgery for underprivileged and ill children under the foundation’s Medical Fund Programme.
This year’s aid will help fund several ongoing programmes, including the Star Social Impact Grant (SSIG), which supports impact-driven and sustainable social projects to better the lives of local communities.
“Our hearts go out towards those who were severely affected by unfortunate circumstances, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We hope to try and help wherever we can,” said Mohamad Akbal.
Hans Advisory had also made donations to other establishments, including old folks homes, places of worship, and recent flood relief efforts in Bentong, Pahang.
The company offers a full range of services in incorporating Labuan entities and advising clients on relevant compliance requirements for local and international investors who conduct business from or through Labuan.
Chor conveyed his appreciation to Hans Advisory for its generous contribution to the foundation.
“We hope that more commercial entities will also spare a thought for those who are less fortunate, and how they can play their part to help out, similar to what Hans Advisory has done.
“Star Foundation, which acts as a custodian of funds coming in, will continue to ensure in a transparent manner that contributions received go towards helping those in need within our multiracial community,” said Chor.
Star Foundation was set up in 2004 to deliver meaningful initiatives with lasting outcomes to a diverse group of beneficiaries nationwide.
Since its inception, it has disbursed some RM20.3mil to more than 360 NGOs that support social causes such as education, environmental protection and social welfare.
