Brewing up an auspicious beginning
EMPLOYEES of Star Media Group Bhd had an early taste of Chinese New Year when Carlsberg Malaysia paid them a visit on Wednesday.
The lobby at Menara Star was filled with excitement as employees waited to see what Carlsberg had in store for them this year.
The event kicked off with a performance by the students of Yaping Diabolo Dance Academy.
Oohs and aahs could be heard as the crowd watched the six performers put on an impressive show with creative tricks.
Carlsberg Malaysia managing director Lars Lehmann and Star Media Group Bhd managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai launched the celebration by tapping beer from a giant dispenser shaped like a beer bottle.
They shared a laugh in their bid to try to pour the best pint of beer, but failed in their attempts as they poured more foam than beer into their glasses.
Together with the senior management of both companies, who came clad in bright red, turquoise and pink traditional attire, they toasted to a good New Year before tossing yee sang.
Wong and Lehman also exchanged gifts as a token of friendship between the two companies.
A long queue formed at the foyer of Menara Star as employees waited for their turn to play “Spin a Wheel” – a tablet-based game that gave them a chance to win exciting prizes, ranging from a carton of beer to cash vouchers worth RM100.
Some walked away with a deck of cards or a pack of cider.
There was also a corner with a “Twist of Luck” vending machine filled with capsules. Upon twisting a knob, a “fortune capsule” would fall out, and unveil the gift the person would be entitled to, such as a pen, a can of cider or potato chips, or an ang pow packet.
Four Gods of Prosperity made an appearance and gave out ang pow packets as employees munched on snacks and quenched their thirst with cans of Somersby Apple Cider, Carlsberg Smooth Draught or Premium Beer.
