Celebrate Merdeka Day by joining the #AnakAnakMalaysia Walk 2019
#AnakAnakMalaysia take heed!
Come Aug 31, celebrate the Merdeka Day in style by joining the #AnakAnakMalaysia 2019 campaign, which returns for the fifth year.
Gearing up to be stronger and more exciting, the campaign is set to see Malaysians joining the #AnakAnakMalaysia Walk 2019, slated to take place at the Eco Ardence here.
The annual campaign is a collaboration between Eco World Development Group and Star Media Group.
Themed #BetterMeBetterMalaysia, campaign organising chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye said that it relayed a simple and clear message that “a better Malaysia begins with me, you and everyone embracing change and doing their best”.
“I am convinced that a better Malaysia can only begin if we better ourselves. It’s time for everyone to be better and contribute more to the country.
“The best way to inspire change is by being that very change. Demi Negaraku (For our nation), let’s be better versions of ourselves.
“There is nothing more important than to see all Malaysians united, that people from different backgrounds are able to harmonise, integrate and talk in terms of the common objective of a better Malaysia for all,” he said at the campaign’s official launch at the Eco Ardence Sales Gallery in Setia Alam here Friday (July 19).
Following last year’s huge success with over 10,000 people participating, Lee said he was hopeful for this year’s walk to break the record with greater turnout.
“Five years on and #AnakAnakMalaysia has become a brand. People do not only talk about the stylist wristbands, but also what it means to be #AnakAnakMalaysia.
“We will organise this walk every year to enable Malaysians to come together and walk hand in hand in the true spirit of unity and harmony,” he said, adding that he was looking forward to be a part of the event.
Also present were Eco World Development Group chairman Tan Sri Liew Kee Sin, Star Media Group advisor Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai, Panasonic Marketing Innovation general manager Chew Keng Heng and DRB-HICOM Group Strategic Communications Division senior manager Kamil Azhar Mustafa.
The launch was a precursor to the #AnakAnakMalaysia Walk 2019 on Aug 31.
Back by popular demand, the campaign this year will see the distribution of the unique wristbands with snazzy interchangeable pins.
Covering 5.5km, the walk which is held for the first time in the evening in the Klang Valley on Merdeka Day will feature many fun-filled activities along the route.
Participants can expect to finish the walk with a view of the sunset at Eco Ardence.
Having taken part in all previous walks, Star Media Group chairman Datuk Fu Ah Kiow said, “Every Malaysian must treasure the unity among us. It is because of this value that The Star has been supportive of any positive effort to promote unity, tolerance and harmony.
“Besides #AnakAnakMalaysia, we also strongly advocate the moderation movement and inclusiveness among people.
“We should downplay our differences and magnify the good values that are common among all races to promote unity for the country,” he added.
In line with the theme #BetterMeBetterMalaysia, Fu noted that every individual has a role to play and it takes the “combined effort from all citizens to bring better changes.”
The launch was a grand affair with scores of prominent Malaysians present such as national athletes, celebrities, activists and successful entrepreneurs throwing their support.
This year’s campaign features new partnerships with National Geographic, RIUH and the local label IDOTSHIRT.
The Nation Geographic’s Uncover Malaysia photo contest is open to all while RIUH, the curated creative bazaar, is set to be a crowd puller during the walk. IDOTSHIRT is behind the design and production of the campaign T-shirt.
Besides the main event in Shah Alam, the campaign is also happening simultaneously in Eco Terraces in Penang and Eco Spring in Iskandar Malaysia, Johor.
To get hold of the wristband, pick up a copy of The Star newspaper on selected days and log on to www.anakanakmalaysia.com.my for the list of wristband collection points.
