Chor is Star Media Group's new chairman
PETALING JAYA Star Media Group Bhd (SMG) has appointed Tan Sri Chor Chee Heung as its new chairman.
Chor, 66, will be independent and non-executive chairman of SMG effective March 15,2021.
A lawyer by profession who was called to the Bar at Lincoln’s Inn, Chor was elected Member of Parliament for five terms at the Alor Star constituency between 1990 and 2013.
Between 2008 and 2013, Chor served as Deputy Home Affairs Minister, Deputy Finance Minister and Housing and Local Government Minister.
Prior to that between 1996 and 2004, Chor was appointed Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Transport.
After leaving his political career, Chor entered the corporate world where he was appointed Commissioner of Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) and Advisor in Melati Ehsan Holdings Bhd. He held those corporate positions between the years of 2015 and 2017.
Chor was also an independent director at Tenaga Nasional Bhd between 2015 and 2018.
