Exciting days for the Star-struck
KUALA LUMPUR: Star Media Group has launched its year-long anniversary celebrations, commemorating 50 years of delivering powerful and insightful content to Malaysians.
It has unveiled exciting initiatives in store for its readers and audiences leading up to its anniversary on Sept 9.
At the launch event yesterday, SMG chief executive officer Alex Yeow said the launch not only kickstarted the anniversary countdown, but also a celebration of the synergy between its partners.
‘’In an era where versatility and accountability reigns, the relationships we foster matter more than ever.
‘’Consumers now pay close attention to the added value that the media and businesses can bring about.
‘’They turn to trusted brands whose values align with their own, ’’ he said.
With the theme ‘’50 years of Shaping the Nation Together”, Yeow said it was a reflection of how The Star had been deeply entrenched in the nation and entwined with the people through the years.
‘’Reaching millions across its print and digital platforms, The Star continues to play its role as the people’s paper.
‘’Before I joined just 10 days ago as Group CEO, previously from the outside looking in, I have always admired The Star for the values it has upheld for the past five decades – keeping to the highest standards of editorial integrity and staying accountable for its content, ’’ he said.
As print played a role in paving the way for Industry 4.0, Yeow said The Star had since progressed into the digital sphere and across all touchpoints, evolved into Star Media Group – a multimedia organisation and a formidable force to be reckoned with.
‘’From mStar, R.AGE, Dimsum Entertainment, to radio stations 988, Suria, various digital platforms, as well as its long-standing events and exhibitions, each has made its own mark in reaching audiences locally and abroad, ’’ he said.
Yeow also noted the words of “to inform, inspire and innovate” serve as a compass as “the group continues to deliver credible, relevant content and innovative solutions to bring added value and create meaningful engagements with our stakeholders”.
Feeling humbled and excited to be a part of the group’s journey, Yeow also tipped his hat to the dedicated and passionate people that have built its strong legacy and into what it is today.
‘’I believe our accomplishments today would not have been possible without the dedicated commitment and support from all parties involved.
‘’On behalf of Star Media Group, I would like to thank you, our partners, clients and stakeholders.
‘’You are one of the reasons we have achieved so much and I assure you that we will continue to bring you impactful and meaningful solutions for your businesses.”
With over 23 million consumers reaching across various brands and channels, he said the group was well placed to support the growth of businesses in Malaysia through a 360° media-rich experience.
