#StandTogether calls for nationwide recognition & observation of a National Kindness Week
Star Media Group and property developer S P Setia have rallied together once again to call for a National Kindness Week to be observed every first week of April as part of their #StandTogether kindness movement.
Initiated by Star Media Group’s award-winning R.AGE team and S P Setia last year in response to the torrent of bullying cases, the campaign succeeded in registering over 730 schools and 900 teachers for the first National Kindness Week in April last year.
The movement is set to grow even further this year with support from the Ministry of Education (MOE) and several Members of Parliament, including Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik, Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, and Batu Kawan MP Kasthuriraani Patto; as well as numerous celebrity ambassadors.
The main focus for #StandTogether 2019 will be a nationwide “Kindness Tour”. Fun and educational workshops will be held in every state across the country, open to 200 teachers and students per session. The workshops will be organised by #StandTogether programme partners Digi, International Medical University, and Unicef.
#StandTogether 2019 was launched by students who participated in the campaign last year, flanked by the guest of honour Selangor princess Tengku Zatashah Sharafuddin Idris Shah, S P Setia Foundation chairman Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr Wan Mohd Zahid Wan Noordin, S P Setia president and CEO Datuk Khor Chap Jen, Star Media Group group advisor Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai, Star Media Group chief operating officer Roy Tan, S P Setia deputy president and chief operating officer Datuk Wong Tuck Wai, and Star Media Group chief content officer Esther Ng.
Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai, Tan Sri Wan Zahid, Digi Head of Sustainability Philip Ling and UNICEF deputy representative Radoslaw Rzehak were part of a panel discussion at the launch, where they took on questions from students on issues related to bullying.
Students from various schools took centre stage at the launch event at Setia International Centre as they ran the show in its entirety, acting as hosts and emcees, delivering speeches and carrying out interviews with the celebrity ambassadors.
The #StandTogether ambassadors include actress Lisa Surihani, YouTuber Jinnyboy, social media star Arwind Kumar, comedian Harith Iskander, singer Nik Qistina, singer Rabbit Mac, and mixed martial artist Ann Osman.
The #StandTogether National Kindness Week will take place nationwide from April 1 – 5, 2019. For more information, please contact Natalia Hussain (017-6275728) and Myrra Baity (012-6600623)
