GEORGE TOWN: The Star Education Fair 2021 started off with a bang in accordance with standard operating procedure (SOP) set by the authorities.

The one-stop educational hub is back at the Setia SPICE Convention Centre from now to Sunday (Jan 10), offering insight into a myriad of career paths for budding young talents to explore their future.

The exhibitors, who are hands-on at their booths with strict standard operating procedure compliance, are ready to cater to those needing new insight regarding further education in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The lineup of educators includes renowned international universities, offering tertiary educational programmes tailored to fit the new normal.

Look out for flexible degree programmes that offer a chance for students to partially complete the programmes overseas in the years to come after the pandemic has been dealt with.

For those who prefer remaining in Malaysia for tertiary studies, this is a good time to hunt for discounts and even waivers on tuition fees plus scholarships.

About 20 free talks will also be held throughout the two-day event to further help choose the right lucrative career path.

The speakers are experts in various academic and industrial fields who will help visitors gain insights on the latest career prospects.

Star Media Group Bhd general manager Jason Yap and Penang Convention and Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) chief executive officer Ashwin Gunasekeran launched the Star Education Fair 2021.

Yap said the fair was organised despite the pandemic with all the guidelines and standard operating procedures adhered to, ensuring the safety of visitors and exhibitors.

“This is something the public needs, as there is access to education courses.

“Through our surveys, we have found that there is still a need to have face-to-face interaction to obtain information about courses and career paths.

“There has not been an exhibition like this here education-wise in the past year.

“We want to cater to all the needs of the students and parents when it comes to obtaining information about courses,” he said.

Yap said parents can expect a whole spectrum of courses and career insight.

“Universities are here to offer the best educational prospects.

“It is a great time for parents and students to start sourcing for where they want to send their children or which courses to pursue,” he said.

Yap said there was no target number of visitors.

“We just want to provide what the visitors need in a safe environment,” he said.

A bonus for parents is that Star Education Fair 2021 will be held alongside the Perfect Livin home expo, a one-stop centre for homeowners to find fantastic deals on furniture and home appliances.

Star Education Fair 2021, which is the 33rd to be held since its inception in 1987, is organised by I.Star Events Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Star Media Group Berhad.

Held at Hall Four of the Setia SPICE Convention Centre, admission is free and runs from now till Sunday (Jan 10), from 11am to 7pm.
