Star Media Group bags ESG pioneer award
For its contributions to the community, Star Media Group Bhd is receiving the Special Media Award in the Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) Pioneer Award this year.
The award is organised by the alliance of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Yayasan Amal TYT Pulau Pinang (TYT), Penang Green Council (PGC) and Advance Dispute Resolution Council (ADRC).
ADRC adviser Datuk Yong Soo Heong said, “The ESG Pioneer Award recognises organisations that have made significant contributions in advancing sustainable business practices by incorporating ESG factors in their operations and decision-making processes.
“The alliance hopes that its ESG Pioneer Award can serve as a catalyst for promoting sustainable business practices and recognising corporate leadership in this area.
“By highlighting the readiness of organisations to cultivate best practices on ESG, the award will encourage more organisations to prioritise sustainability and create a positive impact on society and the environment.”
Yong said the alliance aimed to integrate and streamline the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and domestic policies.
“This is to assist industry compliance and recognise organisations for their compliance and contributions apart from becoming an authority for ESG compliance in the country,” he said.
Nominations for the ESG Pioneer Award are open until Oct 17 while the ESG Pioneer Award for various categories will be presented on Oct 31.
