Suria's DJ Lin bags top prize again
Suria’s deejay DJ Lin fought back tears of joy after she bagged the coveted Most Popular Radio Presenter Award at the Anugerah Bintang Popular Berita Harian (ABPBH32) on Sunday night.
This was the second time DJ Lin, whose real name is Roslinda Abdul Majid, had won the prestigious award which also coincided with her 20th anniversary in the radio industry.
“I was in shock when my name was called out as the winner.
“I didn’t expect to win the award as I was the only female presenter among five other highly talented nominees who were much younger, ” she said yesterday after regaining her composure.
DJ Lin, 43, said she was overwhelmed with emotions and cried twice during the event.
“It was a very touching moment for me and the best night of my life.
“As much as I tried to control myself, I cried when presented with the award on stage, ” she said, adding that she broke down again when asked to say a few words while meeting the media backstage.
DJ Lin attributed her win to her loyal fans who continued to support her show Suria Cinta over the years.
Her segment is aired six days a week (except Saturdays) between 8pm and 1am.
“Besides entertaining listeners with songs, I have also been there for fans, listening to their relationship problems.
“I had even acted as a match-maker on the show for some of my fans who eventually got married, ” she quipped.
She said that winning the award for the second time has made her even more driven to do better for her fans in the coming year.
“Despite juggling my time heading the radio station, I will remain devoted as a deejay for my Suria Cinta fans, ” she said.
Star Media Group Bhd’s chief executive officer Andreas Vogiatzakis also expressed delight at DJ Lin’s latest award.
“Our very own DJ Lin wins Most Popular Radio Announcer Award at the Anugerah Bintang Popular live telecast on TV3.
“This is amazing. A true Super Star, ” he said in his congratulatory message that was shared within the entire group.
DJ Lin, who holds a degree in mass communications, first won the award in 2016.
