PETALING JAYA: The Star has launched a new video portal, TheStarTV.com, dedicated to the video content it produces. In a move towards the digital front, the portal combines all video content across its different media platforms into one place.The one-stop platform promises viewers would no longer miss out on new video updates, whether it is in English, Malay or Chinese.
Star Media Group Bhd group managing director and CEO Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai and chairman Datuk Fu Ah Kiow launched the portal together during the company’s 44th anniversary celebration at Menara Star here yesterday.
Wong said in his speech that The Star remained relevant in the industry as the media group had always continued looking for new avenues and taking the journey forward.
“If you look back at what we have done over the years, for the past 44 years, we have always had the foresight of bringing new products into the company,” he said.
“You must remember that The Star started The Star Online 20 years ago. We had the foresight to start an online platform then.” Wong said The Star was the first company to have a news app that incorporates video. “The next journey starts today with TheStarTV.com. The way people consume content is different now. People consume videos on their mobile phones,” he added.
On the portal, viewers can use the search function to key in their interests and discover related content. Five channels already available on the site are News, Business, Lifestyle, Entertainment and Asean. Exciting channels such as Travel, Current Affairs, Fashion and Food are also in the pipeline.
