Star Media Group Bhd (SMG) will be temporarily headed by a three-man special committee effective tomorrow following the departure of group chief executive officer Andreas Vogiatzakis (pic).

The committee comprises three non-executive directors of the company, namely Datuk Fu Ah Kiow, Datuk Dr Mohd Aminuddin Mohd Rouse and Chan Seng Fatt.

The committee will be overseeing the operations of the company until a new candidate is identified.

“The board of directors and management of Star Media Group express their appreciation to Vogiatzakis for his invaluable contribution to the group during his tenure, while assuring that business will continue as usual,” SMG said.

Vogiatzakis resigned from his position as group CEO yesterday to pursue other interests.

In a farewell email to the whole group, he thanked SMG chairman Fu and the board for their guidance and support during his nine-month tenure.

“I am proud to have served SMG’s purpose, even for a short period of time,” he said.

“I will also be forever indebted to all my direct reports and the management team for becoming partners in this journey, and for making my time in SMG for the last nine months meaningful, insightful, memorable and a tremendous learning experience.”
